Terms of Use + Privacy
The short, plain version.
Last updated October 3, 2026. These terms cover everything sold on jakejess.com: the digital plan sets and the Before You Build course. Buying either one means you agree to them.
1. Download and save your files right away
Your purchase is a digital file, not an account. When you buy a plan set you get an instant download plus an emailed link you can use to download it again. That link is a convenience, not a promise of permanent hosting. We may change, move or shut down this website at any time, and when that happens the download links stop working.
So please save the PDF to your own computer, phone or cloud storage as soon as you buy it. If the site is discontinued or a link no longer works, we are not obligated to re-supply files you did not save. The same goes for course worksheets, checklists and templates: download them from your course page and keep your own copy.
2. What you can do with the plans
- Build from them as many times as you like for yourself, your family or your own property.
- Print them, mark them up, hand a copy to your builder, lumber yard or building department.
- Change them however you want for your own project.
What you can't do: resell, share, post or give away the files, or use them to make a competing plan product. Each purchase is a single-buyer, non-transferable licence. The plans stay our copyright.
3. Plans are not engineered or permit-ready
These are the drawings we built our own projects from. They are drawn to common framing practice, but they are not stamped by an engineer or architect and have not been reviewed for your site, soil, snow load, wind, seismic zone or local code. You are responsible for checking with your building department, getting any permits, and building safely. Building is dangerous. We are not liable for injury, damage, code violations, failed inspections or extra cost that come from using the plans.
4. Updates
When we revise a plan set, your download link serves the newest version for free for as long as the site is online. We don't notify buyers of every revision, so grab a fresh copy before you start building.
5. Refunds
Digital files can't be returned, so plan purchases are final once the file has been delivered. If a file is defective, missing or not what the page described, email us within 14 days and we'll fix it or refund you. Course refunds: email us within 30 days of buying the course and we'll refund you in full.
6. The course
Course access is tied to the link we email you. Don't share it. "Lifetime access" means for the life of the course on this site; if we ever retire it we'll give notice on the course page so you can download the materials first (see section 1).
7. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Prices are in US dollars. Sales tax, where it applies, is added at checkout.
8. Privacy
- What we collect: the email and name you give at checkout or on the worksheet form, your purchase records, and basic first-party analytics on this site (pages viewed, time on page, rough location from your IP, the link you came from). We don't use third-party ad trackers.
- Why: to deliver what you bought, send your access or download link, answer support emails, and see which parts of the site are working.
- Who sees it: us, and Stripe for payment processing. We don't sell or rent your information. We'll only email you about your purchase, or about new plans and lessons if you asked for that.
- Your choices: email us to see, correct or delete what we hold about you, or to be removed from any list.
9. The rest
We can update these terms; the date at the top tells you when. If any part is found unenforceable the rest still applies. Questions: info@jakejess.com.
